I truly believe that to become a better photographer you have to continusly train your eye to see the things you don't normally see, to explore light, shapes and shadows. To know light you really have to study it in all forms then and only then can you master it. I love to get out for a walkabout, camera in hand just exploring and photographing things that might interest me. Winnipeg, Manitoba is actually a very interesting city to explore. Here are some images I snapped on a walkabout in the city.
The current city of Paphos lies on the Mediterranean coast, about 50 km (30 mi) west of Limassol (the biggest port on the island), which has an A6 highway connection. Paphos International Airport is the country's second-largest airport. The city has a subtropical-Mediterranean climate, with the mildest temperatures on the island.
Paphos is included in the official UNESCO list of cultural and natural treasures of the world's heritage for its spectacular ancient remains, and was selected as a European Capital of Culture for 2017, along with Aarhus.
I have been very fortunate to have traveled the world and see some amazing sites. Here are some pictures from my trip to The Tombs of the Kings in Cyprus. The Tombs of the Kings is a large necropolis lying about two kilometres north of Paphos harbour in Cyprus. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The underground tombs, many of which date back to the 4th century BC, are carved out of solid rock, and are thought to have been the burial sites of Paphitic aristocrats and high officials up to the third century AD (the name comes from the magnificence of the tombs; no kings were in fact buried here). Some of the tombs feature Doric columns and frescoed walls. Archaeological excavations are still being carried out at the site. The tombs are cut into the native rock, and at times imitated the houses of the living.
Every now and then I get to go and explore the endless locations that Manitoba houses, I love the open road, music on and camera in hand. Here are some pictures from my last outing. Enjoy - Michael :)
Athlone is a town in central Ireland. The medieval Athlone Castle offers views from its battlements, plus displays on local history. South of town, along the River Shannon, the early Christian ruins of Clonmacnoise include a cathedral and 7 churches. To the north, vast Lough Ree is dotted with islands, some housing monastic ruins. Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park has a ring fort, a forge and rich birdlife.
One thing I love about being a Winnipeg wedding photographer is getting to travel so much, I am fortunate enough to be able to travel back home to see family and friends. I am going to blog a couple of different posts from my last trip home with my wife and daughter. Here is the first.....ENJOY!! - Michael
